The Geology Museum is part of the Department of Earth Sciences at The University of Bristol and is one of the primary reference and research points on the subject in the country. The museum houses over ten thousand samples and specimens in a collection that has gradually been developed since its inception in 1876. Local materials of particular note include Jurassic ammonites and Carboniferous Limestone corals.
