Farley Water is one of the many streams which feed into the East Lyn as it flows northwards to the coast. Just before its meeting with the last-named river at Watersmeet about two miles south of Lynmouth, it descends a series of shallow waterfalls which are especially dramatic in the autumn and winter after heavy rain. Canoeists can often be seen negotiating the rapids and birds such as dippers and grey wagtails are frequently seen along the water. There are several viewpoints to see the river at its best and its line can be followed using paths on both banks.
