The trail around the market town of Wiveliscombe takes in many of the town’s historic buildings. The itinerary includes the former 19th Century Hancock Brewery; 16th Century Bournes House, built by Bishop Bourne and with legends of tunnels linking to the church; and the Tudor-style Court House, hung with terracotta tiles. This amazing building, built in the 1880s with carved grotesque corbels and wooden panelling depicting mythical animals, is now the town’s library. A free leaflet guide is available from various outlets and the walk takes around an hour.
