King Doniert’s Stone is located just outside of the small community of St Cleer in the beautiful Cornish countryside, overlooking some stunning views of the rolling green hills. The stone is in fact two pieces of a decorated stone cross that dates from the 9th Century. The inscription is shrouded in mystery, but is believed by many historians to commemorate the death of Dungarth, King of Cornwall, who died in 876 AD.
