Pendennis Castle is situated just outside of Falmouth on a beautiful headland, and is the sister castle to St Mawes. It forms the Cornish end of a chain of castles that were built by King Henry VIII to counter the sea born attack from the French and Spanish in the 16th Century. The castle has been adapted over the centuries to provide more modern defensive structures, many of which still remain and are protected and preserved by English heritage.
