The remnants of this former R.A.F. base can be found near the village of Yelverton, within Dartmoor National Park. Largely built and maintained by the local community when it was a functioning airbase, Harrowbeer was used by the pilots of many Commonwealth and Allied countries during the Second World War. What remains of the airbase today are the various runways and ruined hangers, which are now frequented by sheep and Dartmoor ponies instead of spitfires. It is a beautiful and intriguing place to explore on a sunny day.
