A trust was established in order to preserve and protect the long and illustrious history of the railways in this region. It established a museum that contains relics from the Somerset and Dorset Railway which once ran from Bath to Bournemouth, with branch lines to Highbridge, Burnham on Sea, Wells and Bridgewater. It finally closed in 1966, but the museum carries lamps, tools, tickets, photographs, rolling stock and locomotives that were once used on the line.
