The lighthouse positioned centrally on St. Agnes is one of the oldest coastal lights in England, dating from 1680 and originally with a coal fired burner! It was replaced by the smaller Penninis Light on the south coast of St. Mary’s in 1911 but continues to be used by Trinity House and whitewashed as a daymark for shipping in these dangerous waters.
