The incredible fifty-four foot intricately carved rood-screen is one of the treasures of St George’s Church in Dunster. The 15th Century screen is thought to be the longest in the country and built to separate the parishioners from the monks of Dunster Priory. The church’s 16th Century font is also worth a look, with its carvings of the five wounds of Christ; the tall, elaborate wooden cover is 19th Century. Other ancient relics include three 12th and 13th Century wooden chests and a 14th Century grave-slab to a Dunster prior.
