St Guron founded a monastery in Bodmin in the 6th century, and this Well is dedicated to him. It stands at the churchyard gate of St Petroc, Cornwall's largest parish church. References to the Well have been found as far back as the 12th century, but it is thought that the current Well House and Gargoyles date from 1545. Until quite recently, it was the town's main supply of water. It has apparently never run dry.
