St Ives has been renowned for its thriving art scene since Turner began painting here at the beginning of the 19th Century. The St Ives Society of Artists was established in the 1920s and the gallery houses the art of its contemporary members. The gallery itself was once the Mariners Church but now offers visitors the chance to see a wide variety of art ranging from watercolours and oil paintings to sculpture and woodcarvings. There is usually a local connection in the works so anyone who loves Cornwall will love this gallery.
