St Neot lies five miles west of Liskeard, immediately south of Bodmin Moor. The imposing church here dates from the fifteenth Century and has a fascinating history. The stained glass windows are its best feature, including a depiction of scenes from the Creation. There are links with the English Civil War, and on 29th May every year an oak branch is raised to the roof to commemorate Charles II’s escape from his pursuers in 1660 by hiding in a local tree. The churchyard has five ancient Celtic crosses. A holy well is a short walk from the church.
