St. Winnow Church is located on an ancient holy site on the banks of the Fowey River, the focal point of a small, peaceful and remote community. Saint Winnoc is thought to have founded the site in the 7th century although nothing now remains from that period, and little from the original Norman church. The present building dates mainly from the 15th century and has benefited from a skillful restoration. Inside the beautifully carved woodwork in the roof, pews and screen creates a strong sense of solidity and permanence.
