Stroll along The Beach in Clevedon and you’ll come upon the town’s decorative bandstand. It was built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887; it’s still a popular place, and bands can be heard playing here throughout the summer months. The architect was William Green and the original structure had gas lighting but no windshields – these protective panels were a later addition, added to improve the bandstand’s acoustics and to help shelter the bandsmen.
