Pilgrims come from far and wide to this ancient holy well at the foot of Glastonbury Tor. The Chalice Well is actually a natural spring. Iron from the local rock gives it a reddish colour, from which it got the name Red Spring, or Blood Spring. The present name reflects the Arthurian legends which have been woven around Glastonbury for centuries. The spring feeds several water features set in delightful gardens. Visitors can picnic in a meadow with fine views on the hill above the well.
