Totnes Castle is a classic example of a Norman motte and bailey castle, overlooking the River Dart. A stone shell was built on top of the mound at a later date. The castle offers some of the best views in the area and is worth climbing to discover the historic architecture. There is a series of historical displays that help to explain more about the history and usage of the castle through the centuries.
