Dedicated to Saint Cuthburga, much of this imposing Norman church dates between 1120 and 1180. The Minster is still very much a parish church but is open to the public between services. Guided tours are available in the summer months. The Minster houses a rare example of a chained library, one of the first public libraries in the country. Highlights include a fourteenth century manuscript written on lambskin and a title page designed by Holbein. A well stocked shop sells Christian literature and souvenirs.
