Dunster is a small village about 1.5 miles east of Minehead on the Bristol Channel coast. It is a largely unspoiled spot and the centre of the town retains many of the old buildings. The whole village is dominated by the castle on its hill but the focal point of the High Street is the picturesque Yarn Market. This is a covered area built in 1609 particularly to accommodate the wool traders and other cloth merchants. It was damaged during the English Civil War and restored in 1647.
