The small Hebridean island of Berneray lies off North Uist. Connected by a causeway it is a mere 3km by 5km in size but is well worth a visit for those who enjoy quiet seascapes. Berneray is famed for its golden beaches and birdlife –the rare corncrake can still be heard here. The island is also has many good vantage points for seal and otter watching. The island also has excellent windsurfing, sea kayaking and fishing.
