Travelling along the road from Broadford to Elgol on the Isle of Skye, visitors will pass the atmospheric ruined chapel of Cill Chriosd with its interesting graveyard. Translated from the Gaelic, its name means Christ’s Church and it served as the parish church from 1505 until 1840 when a new parish church was built in Broadford. Today, the landscape around Cill Chriosd is peaceful but until the early twentieth century, the area provided quarries for the highly profitable marble industry.
