Also known as Point, this peninsula is joined to the Isle of Lewis by an isthmus which is only 100 metres wide in places. It’s easily accessible from the island capital of Stornoway however and there are several sites of historical interest at the end of the peninsula. Eye Church, now in ruins, is a large pre-Reformation church believed to have been built over Saint Catan’s abode, who was an early Irish missionary.
