The attractive lighthouse of Lismore lies on Eilean Musdile separated from the southern tip of Lismore, a long narrow island at the intersection of Loch Linnhe, the Firth of Lorn and the Sound of Mull by a narrow channel. The light guards the shipping route through these narrow passages from Oban, on the mainland, to Tobermory and Craignure, on Mull. Like all Scottish lights, it is maintained by the Northern Lighthouse Board. It was built by Robert Stevenson in 1833 and automated in 1965.
