The long, narrow island of Lismore is a real haven for those looking to get away from it all. Reached from Oban or Port Appin it is home to some 170 souls and has a wealth of history and archaeological interest. Pictured is the view from St. Moluag’s stone 'chair'. St. Moluag was one of the first Irish missionaries to come to Scotland in 563AD. His blackthorn crozier, Bacchuill Mor, ‘the great staff’, is preserved on Lismore in Bachuil village and can be seen on request.
