The Skye Museum of Island Life is a group of seven traditionally thatched croft cottages, once a common sight in the Highlands and now extremely rare. Each cottage houses exhibits which illustrate what life was like for the people of the Isle of Skye in the past. The croft cottage with its box beds and traditional range kitchen is particularly interesting. Perhaps the most fascinating building is the ceilidh house which contains a vast collection of documents and photographs of ordinary Skye people which really bring history to life.
