The Storr is probably Skye’s most famous landmark. It is a dramatic 719 metre high mountain located above the east-facing cliffs of the Trotternish Peninsula. Even more striking is the tooth-like rocky outcrop just below the cliffs called The Old Man of Storr. This 50 metre high jagged rock created a major challenge to climbers and was not conquered until 1955. Both The Storr and The Old Man are magnets for walkers and climbers and are reached from the main road at the northern end of Loch Leathan.
