This was amongst one of the most northerly outposts of the Roman Empire, a long way from Rome. This area was used as a ‘capital’ and central base for controlling this area of the world. There are a great deal of Roman relics that still remain on this site, including a series of fields laid out in the traditional way, and other objects that have been discovered.
