Bagshaw Museum, situated within the confines of Wilton Park, is one of the most interesting regional museums in West Yorkshire, with a surprisingly varied mix of artefacts collected from around the world, including China and Egypt. Named after the first curator, Walter Bagshaw, it opended on the 4th October 1911, quickly becoming one of the area's popular public attractions. Adjacent to the museum visitors will find the Kirklees Butterfly Conservation Centre and the Milner K Ford Observatory which is open to those interested in astronomy on selected evenings.
