Barley Hall is an excellent example of a 15th Century timber-framed house which was built on the site of a former monastery. Today the hall is open to the public and it depicts life in the 15th Century during the period when the hall was owned by William Snawsell a good friend of Richard III. The guided tour for visitors includes an audio commentary featuring the voices of Robert Hardy and York-born Dame Judi Dench which is included in the entrance fee.
