Bedern Hall is a mediaeval building in one of York’s oldest districts. The Bedern area had degenerated into slums until it was redeveloped in recent times. Bedern Hall survived the upheaval of the district and it boasts a rich history. Originally the Hall was the refectory of the Vicars Choral of York Minster who sang the services in the Minster. In later years it became part of a private dwelling, an annexe for St Peter’s School and a pork pie factory! As it stands now, the hall is a superb example of a rectangular mediaeval building with some notably unique mediaeval architecture.
