The ornate well pump stands at the top of Boroughbridge High Street and is a key feature of this traditional market town. The pump was a gift to the people of the town from Mrs Lawson of Aldborough Manor in 1875, provided to ensure that all had access to fresh water. The artesian well capped by the pump is 256ft deep.
