There was once a huge Roman settlement in this area of the world, and where Castleford now stands would have had a great deal of activity in ancient times. A large proportion of the museum is dedicated to the study of the area at this time and is filled with archaeological finds. There are also more modern pieces on display that explore the industrial growth and decline in the region.
