Situated within the peaceful surroundings of Monument Gardens, Sheffield's Cholera Monument was built in 1834 to commemorate 402 people who died of the disease two years earlier. The monument, designed by Matthew Hadfield, is an obelisk, with the figures of Faith, Hope and Charity carved on each face. Visitors can also see the grave of Sheffield's Master Cutler John Blake, a victim of the epidemic, while the park offers fantastic views over the city.
