Leeds City Varieties originated as a music hall in 1865. The theatre is still a popular destination for mainly comic or musical acts. It was the home of BBC television’s Good Old Days programme from 1953 to 1983. It is actually acknowledged in the Guiness Book of Records as being the longest running music hall in Great Britain. The theatre has had many famous names perform at its site, including Charlie Chaplin, Houdini and Harry Lauder.
