Designed by architect Frank Tugwell Harrogate Theatre, or as it is often still known the Grand Opera House, opened on the 11th January 1900 to much acclaim and is today still a popular venue offering a varied programme of entertainment. As a Grade II listed building it has been much refurbished over the years, currently having a seating capacity of around 500. Standing on Oxford Street the theatre enjoys a town centre location and is ideally placed for an evening out as it is conveniently placed for easy access to a number of local eating houses and pubs. Visitors will find a range of artists appear at the theatre including well-known names such as Julian Clary, Russell Kane.
