In 1889, Headingley Stadium was built in a joint venture by both Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rugby Union Football Club. The cricket ground adjoins the rugby stadium. It can hold over 14,000 people and has been a famous location for test cricket matches over the past 100 years. The sports ground originally incorporated tennis courts, a bowling green and cycling and athletics tracks. The stadium includes a hotel and club shop and the south stand has recently been refurbished. It is now the home of Leeds Tykes Rugby Club and the league-winning Leeds Rhinos Rugby Club, as well as Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
