Located in Tudor Square, the Lyceum is a traditional proscenium arch theatre offering a variety of productions including opera, ballet, Shakespeare, pantomime, and West End hits. The Grade II listed theatre has a highly decorative interior and seats 1068 people. It was designed by WGR Sprague and remains his only surviving design outside London. Originally opened in 1897, the building closed in 1968 and was used for over a decade as a venue for rock concerts and bingo. It reopened in 1990 after a £12 million renovation.
