North Yorkshire Record Office is housed in the heart of Northallerton and comprises the most extensive set of written records relating to the history of North Yorkshire and the people who live there. There are several main categories of record on show; legal documents, personal affairs, political records and administrative paperwork. Dating back many hundreds of years, the office is open to the public and academics for research and browsing.
