Oakwell Hall is a fine example of a Tudor manor house set out as it would have looked in the 1690s when it was owned by the wealthy Batt family. It has a great deal of local historical significance and was featured as the Gothic ‘Fieldhead’ in Charlotte Bronte’s novel ‘Shirley’. The hall is surrounded by gardens, a 110 acre country park with cafe, walks, picnic sites, adventure playground and visitor centre.
