Rowntrees Park was opened in 1920 by the chocolate manufacturer and philanthropist Joseph Rowntree and represents one of York’s most prized and visited open spaces. Here you will find flat green bowls, picnic areas, public tennis courts and children’s play areas with safety fences. Recent updates include a skateboarding park, a refurbished cafe and various sculptures. Please note, the park is now easier to access thanks to the new Millennium Bridge which gives direct access from the Fulford area. This facility is new enough not to feature on all local maps.
