Map
St William’s College is dedicated to St William of York who was a nephew of King Stephen and probably a great-grandson of William the Conqueror. The college building was originally a home for York Minster’s Chantry Priests and was later home to the printing presses of King Charles I during the Civil War. Nowadays, it operates as a visitor centre and houses a restaurant and, allegedly, the ghost of a 17th Century murderer who prowls the corridors after dark.
