The Streetlife Museum of Transport was conceived in the early 1980s as a response to the serious overcrowding in the existing Transport Museum that was opened in 1925. The centre was built in three stages using public and private money. Visitors are now treated to a first class transport gallery. Amongst the highlights are fully size steam locomotives, road transit vehicles, ticketing equipment and clothing.
