This museum was founded by Paul Thackray, and was officially opened in 1997. The exhibitions focus on how medicine and health care has made considerable advancements in the past 150 years. There are over 35,000 objects relating to the history of health care and over 8,000 books in the library. The museum is a valuable resource centre for academics as well as tourists. It has won several awards since its opening.
