Built in 1912 and originally Holme Valley Theatre it seated 1040 people over two floors. The cinema saw silent movies with musicians replaced by electronic sound and eventually talking pictures in 1930. Various closures and a change to a bingo hall ultimately saw it renamed The Picturedrome; showing films and putting on live entertainment. The building is also home to the Postcard Museum depicting the history of the local Bamforth family business; producers of silent movies and illustrators of saucy seaside postcards.
