The Turner Museum of Glass houses a fascinating collection of 19th and 20th century works ranging from drinking glasses to contemporary glass art. The exhibits demonstrate the skill and artistry of all the major European and American glassmakers, and especially interesting is the display of glass from the 1920s to the 1950s. Founded in 1943 by Professor W.E.S. Turner, a keen collector who founded the academic discipline of glass technology, the museum is located in the University of Sheffield’s Department of Engineering Materials and welcomes visitors from all around.
