Wakefield Art Gallery, situated on Wentworth Terrace, is one of West Yorkshire's most forward thinking public display spaces, with a reputation for the purchase and display of works by local artists, including the likes of Dame Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, who both came from the immediate locality. The gallery, which regularly hosts a varied programme of talks, workshops and activities also possesses a sizeable collection of more traditional work by some of the region's most respected artists. A well stocked gallery shop sells books, cards, prints and other quality merchandise.
