Established in 1977 by a group of artists and craftspeople, the Yorkshire Artspace Society is the UK’s only purpose built art and craft studio featuring 51 studio spaces as well as public art space. The architecturally impressive Persistence Works opened in 2001 and hosts exhibitions of the works of a wide range of artists and craftspeople. Widely considered a model for the provision of workspace for visual artists, Persistence Works has had a positive role in the urban regeneration of Sheffield.
